Kenny Mok | President

Kenny Mok is a judicial law clerk at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He previously worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as an antitrust associate. Kenny earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. from Northwestern University.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Kylie Kim | Vice President

Kylie Kim is a partner at Massey & Gail LLP, a litigation boutique in Washington, D.C.  She practices complex commercial litigation with a focus on antitrust and securities law.  She was previously a judicial law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  Kylie earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and B.A. from Ewha Womans University in South Korea.  

 

Amy Lyons | Secretary

Amy is a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She previously worked at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP as a litigation associate. She received her JD/MA from American University Washington College of Law and continues to stay involved in her law school's APALSA.

 

Benjamin Reyes | Treasurer

Benjamin R. Reyes concentrates his practice on a wide range of general litigation and complex matters including White Collar Defense and Investigations, Insurance Recovery, IP Litigation, Securities Litigation, Government Contracts, and general Commercial Litigation.

Benjamin previously served as a summer associate at Blank Rome. Prior to joining the firm, Benjamin served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Judge Timothy J. Kelly at the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia and a student law clerk for the United States Agency for International Development, Office of the Inspector General in their Office of the General Counsel. And before he pursued his legal career, Benjamin served in the federal government as a senior policy and planning analyst at the agency and department level of the Department of Homeland Security where he worked in strategic planning and formulated multi-year appropriations for information technology initiatives.

During law school, Benjamin served as a student attorney for the AU WCL Defense Clinic, a note and comment editor for the American University Law Review, and a research assistant in the areas of criminal defense. He was member of AU WCL’s nationally-ranked mock trial team where he competed in multiple competitions throughout the country and was awarded with the AU WCL Professor Anthony Morella Professionalism Award in Trial Advocacy.

 

Nathan Bu | Communications Director

Nathan J. Bu is a Trial Attorney at the United States Department of Justice, Civil Division, where he defends the United States in toxic tort litigation. He is a former law clerk to the Honorable Mary Beck Briscoe (United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit) and to the Honorable Robin M. Meriweather (United States District Court for the District of Columbia). He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. Prior to law school, he taught eighth grade English in Las Vegas, Nevada through Teach for America. 

 

Raymond Ngu | Communications Director

Raymond Ngu is the Legal Director at Open City Advocates, a youth defense and holistic advocacy organization. At OCA, he leads the direct representation practice and provides strategic direction on the organization's legal practice. Prior to his current role, Raymond served as a public policy and health care associate with Covington & Burling LLP. During his time at Covington, Raymond completed a rotation in the Family Law Unit at Neighborhood Legal Services Program where he represented clients on custody issues, child support matters, and civil protection order proceedings. 

Raymond received his B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology from Carleton College and his J.D. from NYU School of Law. In law school, he was the Senior Articles Editor of the Law Review and an AnBryce Scholar, which is awarded to students who are among the first in their family to pursue a graduate or professional degree and have proven themselves to be leaders in the face of challenging social and economic circumstances.

 

Zimu Yang | Director

Zimu Yang is a Corporate Counsel at Amazon.  He supports the company's Project Kuiper, an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit.  Zimu earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.

 
 

Serena Tang | Director

Serena Tang is a trial attorney at the Federal Maritime Commission. Her work focuses on enforcing the Shipping Act and protecting American consumers from unfair and deceptive shipping practices. Previously, she clerked at the Court of International Trade in Manhattan and the Sitka Trial Court in Alaska. Serena earned her J.D. from Vermont Law School and her B.A. from American University.

Serena is a first generation college graduate and lawyer.  Serena worked in food services for two years prior to law school.  She is personally excited about fulfilling AEF’s mission and giving back and she is ready for an exciting year focused on mentorship and APA representation. 

 
 

Danli Lan | Director

Danli Lan is a Corporate and Finance associate at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Danli’s practice involves complex domestic and cross-border transactions covering mergers and acquisitions, public and private capital markets involving equity and debt, joint ventures, and private equity. While in law school, Danli served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John A. Gibney Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Danli earned her JD from American University Washington College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Agnes Scott College.
